Things to Do in North Devon

Surrounded by stunning countryside and positioned right on the Atlantic Coast, you don’t need to travel far to feel a million miles away!
Whether it’s a rural walk, a seaside stroll, or a round of golf that you’re looking for, there’s loads on offer to relax and unwind.
There are still lots of things to do in inclement weather and we will mention just a few. You can visit the world renowned Dartington Crystal Factory at Torrington, museums at Barnstaple and Appledore, and The Burton Art Gallery with a lovely cafe at Bideford. Barnstaple and Bideford both have markets in the historic Pannier Market and these vary from local produce to antiques and arts and crafts on a daily basis.
For the energetic ones amongst you there is a large Sports and Leisure centre in Barnstaple, with a large indoor swimming pool, a very well equipped gym and lots of other facilities. In recent years lottery funding was given to build The Tarka Tennis Centre, a fantastic complex which has recently hosted the British Ladies Championships and was very well supported. There is also Ten Pin Bowling, Quad Biking and Paintballing nearby.
For children there are a large number of all weather attractions including the award winning Big Sheep and the Milky Way and many other themed parks In the evening we are lucky to have three well run theatres here in North Devon, The Landmark in Ilfracombe and The Queens Theatre in Barnstaple, a full programme can be found at The North Devon Theatres website, as well as the Plough Arts Centre at Torrington. Plus a multi screen cinema in Barnstaple.
